P&G Minneapolis
Minneapolis - Mar 1-2
Group Challenge: Procter & Gamble in the Large Corporation (500+ employees) group
Hi Minneapolis P&G'ers,Every year since 2017 (except COVID) the P&G Minneapolis site has participated in the Polar Plunge + Frozen 5k in support of Special Olympics Minnesota. It started with 3 of us (myself, Geis, and Barry) and last year we had 24 people join for the plunge. Friends, family, and kids are also welcome to participate! //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------// Register now... I'll be sending out day-of details of where to meet, what to bring, etc. a week or two prior to the plunge. //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------// This year the event is on Saturday, March 2nd at Lake Nokomis. The 5k starts at 8:05am and the plunge is after that (around 9am). There are two events you can participate in: -Frozen 5k (around the lake) and Polar Plunge (jumping into the lake) //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------// *To register for both (which I highly recommend) you'll select the "Dash & Splash" option when you register. You can also register for just the plunge. You can either fundraise to cover the cost or you can pay it yourself (cost for splash & dash is $115 and you get a shirt with that). All proceeds go to the Special Olympics Minnesota. //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------// The 5 Most Common Objections (and why they are no reason to miss out): //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------// 1. It's too cold: Yes, it is cold. You also live in Minnesota so just embrace it. There are also heated tents that warm you up real quick once you get out. //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------// 2. I don't run: You can sign up for just the plunge. Or you can walk the 5k (many people do). //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------// 3. It's too early in the morning: That just means it doesn't interfere with your other weekend plans! A bunch of folks often go out for brunch afterwards as well. //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------// 4. It doesn't sound safe: There is a 100% survival rate. There are also fire fighters in dry suits to help if needed. //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------// 5. I don't know how to swim: You don't need to swim... just jump in and run (you can stand in the water)So yeah, it's cold. But it's also massively fun and gets you out of the house at that time during the winter when you're getting really cabin fevered.
