Hello and thank you for visiting my Polar Plunge page! The brief discomfort of this icy plunge is nothing compared to the social isolation, budgetary barriers, and limited recreational opportunities that often accompany living with a disability. Special Olympics provides a framework for persons with disabilities to exercise and socialize, but also to develop leadership skills and serve others; many athletes also help coach and volunteer at other events, in addition to just having fun!!!
