Shannon Russell
You all know about my fear of cold water and how I've been getting over it but you likely don't know why. At my last job this sweet young client named Barbara and I had a connection. We could speak freely and be open. When her sweet boy Rudy passed away we cried together in an exam room and she gave me this ornament with him in it. One day she called me up and this is how it went ;BARBARA: Shannon, I have a question if you could help me with fundraisingME : Absolutely! Anything!BARBARA: Will you do the polar plunge with me?ME: Barbara, that honestly is my biggest fear in life, I'm so sorry. I would litterally do anything else. BARBARA: That's okay! Say hi to Dr. Groth for me! Although I don't have a personal connection to the Special Olympics it is still near and dear to my heart. It brings so many joy and a place to belong. Thank you Barbara for showing me helping others is bigger than my fears!
