Mike Dimond, senior vice president and general manager of FOX Sports North and FOX Sports Wisconsin, has directed the regional sports networks’ operations since May, 2004. With over 30 years in the television industry, Dimond oversees sales, marketing, programming, production, and business development as part of his of day-to-day management of FOX Sports North and FOX Sports Wisconsin.

Dimond has demonstrated strong leadership of both networks, strengthening their positions as the foremost local sports destinations in the Upper Midwest.

Under his leadership, FOX Sports North and FOX Sports Wisconsin have earned multiple regional Emmy Awards, including three prestigious ‘Board of Governor’s Emmy’ awards, saluting broadcasters, non-profit organizations, and corporations that partner together on programming that supports local communities. The Emmys were awarded for FOX Sports North’s coverage of Freedom Week/ Operation Home Base with the Minnesota Twins, Hockey Day Minnesota, a salute to the Minnesota National Guard, with the Minnesota Wild and for Japanese tsunami response efforts, in conjunction with Feed My Starving Children and the Minnesota Twins.

Both FOX Sports North and FOX Sports Wisconsin have significantly increased their live event programming and made dramatic gains in developing original local programming during Dimond’s tenure. Dimond has secured exclusive television partnerships with the Minnesota Twins, Timberwolves, Wild and Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks—deals that moved all of the team’s games to cable. In addition, he has overseen the launch of the FOX Sports North PLUS channel as well as FOXsportsnorth.com and FOXsportswisconsin.com. He is also responsible for the creation and accomplishment behind one of FOX Sports North’s marquee events, Hockey Day Minnesota, which is entering its eleventh year.

Previous to taking the helm at FOX Sports North, Dimond was one of the most talented and respected producers in sports television, serving as executive producer for Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain from 1996-2004 and working for the Denver-based regional sports cable network in other producing roles since its inception in 1988 until 1993.

Dimond’s television career began with directing high school football while attending Colorado State University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in speech and theatre arts in 1981. Since 1981, Dimond’s experiences as producer and director include live telecasts of the Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rockies, Minnesota Timberwolves, Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets, college football, college baseball, college basketball, college hockey, gymnastics, swimming and diving, track and field.

International and national events also are a part of Dimond’s repertoire, having served as Senior Executive Producer for Star Sports in Hong Kong from 1994-96 and as an associate producer at the 1988 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona for the Baseball World Feed. He was part of the production team at the Australian Open and French Open.

For the 4th consecutive year, Mike will be a part of the “Pro Sports Plunge”, in which the pro sports teams in town combine forces to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Minnesota. He will be joined by executives from the Minnesota Twins, Wild, Wolves, Lynx, Vikings, and MN United on Thursday, February 9 in downtown Minneapolis for the inaugural downtown Plunge. In addition, Mike serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities and this past Summer he and his wife, Janice, completed a mission to “Run for a Reason” by running a half-marathon in all 50 states to raise funds for Feed My Starving Children. He and Janice have two sons Ben (Wife-Sarah) and Zach, and a daughter Maddie.

FOX Sports North and FOX Sports Wisconsin combine to reach more than 3 million homes throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and North and South Dakota and the networks telecast nearly 2,600 hours of locally produced programming per year. The Emmy Award-winning regional sports networks provide comprehensive coverage of the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and Milwaukee Bucks, MLB’s Minnesota Twins and Milwaukee Brewers, the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings, the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx as well as University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin athletic events.
