Hello Friends, Marie Lady Bird Noplos here, VWO Army Division. This year as we head into Polar Plunge season my heart is once again broken. Our beloved Captain Scott Admiral BigGun Backstrom has passed away. He was a colleague of mine, brother in the Viking World Order (VWO) and one of my best friends. He is the solo reason as to why the Special Olympics Polar Plunge of Minnesota was started here in Otter Tail County. He was an absolute awesome human! This isn't the first time that Scott Admiral BigGun's Purple Plungers team has suffered a grave loss. Our teammate Jimmy Noplos was murdered in June of '21. He had spent over half of his life working in the healthcare field. Both of these men loved Special Olympics and enjoyed the playful competition of raising dollars for it each year! Scott & Jimmy we love you and miss you every single day. Until we meet again!
