Hi Friends and Family! For the final time, in my senior year, it’s Gopher Plunge season. This Wednesday, I will take my final ice-cold dumpster bath as a Gopher!
As you all know by now, Special Olympics is an organization that has changed my life and continues to change the lives of people with disabilities and their peers everywhere. The joy, friendship, kindness, and love this club has brought me is unimaginable. It has been the heart and soul of my four years at the University of Minnesota. I wake up thankful every day that I get to know this group of people who show up for each other always. When my dear friend Abbi and I took over the club 3 years ago, we could never have imagined the impact that would have on our lives and others. For three years, I have served as president of the Special Olympics Club at the University of Minnesota, my proudest accomplishment of all time. To know that my hard work has led to a more inclusive, kind, and joyful community here at the University of Minnesota is more than I could have ever hoped for. Just last week, we held our largest event ever, totaling 140 athletes and unified partners playing flag football together! This was quite the change from the group of 30 members that I joined just three short years ago. Our club receives no monetary support from the University. University students devote their time and effort to making this mission possible, and generous donors like you allow us to continue to spread joy. The money that we raise by participating in the Gopher Plunge will make it possible to continue to foster an ever-growing environment of inclusion and friendship for years to come. This mission is not possible without you. Thank you for the generosity over the past 4 years, and thank you for choosing kindness.
LOVE NEVER FAILS, JOY IS RESISTANCE, KINDNESS IS THE ANSWER.
